My Approach

Most approaches to healthy eating dwell on calories, carbohydrates, fats, and proteins. Instead, we look at how to find the right balance that is specific to your story. I coach my clients to explore basic improvements and implement gradual changes during our work together. As these pieces accumulate, my clients find these changes collectively creating a much larger impact than they originally anticipated. We work on what they want to improve within the circumstances of their unique situation.

As a trained professional, I will be your guide toward your unique wellness goals through a holistic approach. We will address aspects outside of the immediate realms we associate with our physical wellness such as your relationships, movement, career, creative expression, and spirituality, and check what in your life may be out of balance.

Through these lenses, we will address the underlying reasons of what may be the root cause of these concerns, which may lie in these realms. I create a supportive environment that enables you to articulate your story and achieve your goals.

Gut Health

With 80% of diseases being traced back to the gut, it seems odd that we are taking the approach of fixing the symptoms of conditions rather than preventatively addressing the very root cause, which is a balanced gut.

The gut is connected to merely every part of our body -- hormone balances, organ function, neurological currents to and from our brain, and of course the digestive tract. It is often considered the “Second Brain.” When a gut is out of balance - dysbiosis-  any one or few systems in the body can be affected.

By addressing the gut microbiome as well as the gut-brain connection, we can work on fixing the root of many diseases. Conditions, such as SIBO, autoimmunity, IBS, and acid reflux can be addressed more holistically by working to balance the gut microbiome.

Together, we will work to understand what foods will best feed your individual gut.

Optimizing Energy

Why do I feel the same amount of energy when I get 8 hours of sleep as when I get 5? Why do I find myself needing 2+ cups of coffee a day?

If this sounds like you in way, I get it. And I am here to help.

First, we need to understand a little bit about energy. Two of the main controllers of our energy is 1. blood sugar and 2. sensitivities to food.

If our blood sugar spikes in the morning, this will cause us to crash by the afternoon - sound familiar?

In order to keep our blood sugar stable, we must first understand our own personal bandwidth - that is our own reactions and hormonal levels. Personally, I am hypoglycemic, so I know that I cannot go too long without having some sort of food or snack with protein. So, I keep a protein bar or nuts with me pretty much at all times. I’ll have an apple in the morning with a piece of cheese or almond butter - but that is what works specific to ME.

Together we can find out what works for you.

Healthy Cooking & Meal Planning

Healthy eating and meal planning gets a bit easier when you know what you have in your refrigerator and kitchen cabinets and know how to confidently read labels.

This means knowing where your food is sourced, what certifications on labels to actually believe and follow, and understand nutrition labels - NOT just the amount of calories.

With this confidence, naturally comes more confidence spending time in the kitchen.

Together we will:

  • Explore your refrigerator and cabinets

  • Take a trip to a grocery store

  • Learn how to read nutrition labels

  • Learn “organic” vs. “natural” (and all that good stuff)

  • Time manage meal prepping

Handling Acid Reflux
Ditchin the Fad Diet

Handling Acid Reflux

One of the many conditions related to gut health, which can also come from a number of confusing and opposing functions of the body is acid reflux. Whether it is from stress, (surprisingly) not enough of the right acid in the stomach, or simply a diet with too much acid, handling acid reflux can be a major challenge.

As digestion, specific to this case, our esophagus, is constantly working, there is no time for the esophagus to just stop and be healed. In order for acid reflux, and related conditions such as GERD and ulcers, to be healed, it takes a bit of exploration and dedication.

Taking antacids can actually do more harm than good in many cases so getting to the root rather than masking the feeling is extremely important.

Oh boy, is this a tough one to handle, but trust me you are not alone!

Ditching the Fad Diet

If you have peaked at this website at all so far, you will understand that my approach does not include any set diet or any quick fix meal plan to follow.

These approaches are not a way to keep the weight you want or achieve the goals you have.

I know this may seem like a little more effort than you’d like. But wouldn’t you rather spend the time, effort, and money that you're spending on all kinds of fads on something that gets results that actually work for your unique body type and have them last?

In our sessions, you will begin to learn habits that ultimately come as second nature. You will be able to take these gradual modifications and actually implement them into your daily life.

This can all seem pretty overwhelming, but it just takes a little bit of guidance. We will go slow and steady until you will know what to do entirely on your own and feel empowered that you once again are living a life of clarity and high quality!
